Thailand’s trade
activities are supported by the Department of Export Promotion (DEP),
which is controlled by the Ministry of Commerce. The primary goals
of the DEP are to stimulate Thai manufacturers and traders to increase
exports and to promote “Made in Thailand” products.
These goals are
met by numerous activities that are beneficial to both the Thai
exporter and their prospective customers. In order to maximize the
exposure of Thai products, the DEP has a Permanent Exhibition Hall
in Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai used for viewing of goods by visitors.
Numerous annual trade fairs, sponsored by the DEP, are held in Thailand
and abroad to generate interest and awareness of the Kingdom’s goods.
The DEP also dispatches Thai selling and study missions to selected
markets, welcomes incoming trade missions from around the globe
and provides opportunities for companies to meet with potential
trading partners. In addition, the department provides support and
enhancement training for Thai producers through its trade training
division focusing on improving the quality and design of products
offered for export.
The network of
information and services offered through the DEP are available in
Thailand and throughout the world.
