October 5, 2000
BANGKOK
(Bangkok Post) - Thailand.com, the e-commerce portal, says it has generated
40 million baht in revenue in its first four months of operations, and
is seeking business alliances for expansion into TV and radio programming
via the Internet.
The portal
expects to earn over 200 million baht by the end of this year once its
online travel and tourism and business-to-consumer services are put in
place, according to Thanachai Theerapatvong, chief executive of Thai Portal
which operates Thailand.com.
In its first
phase, thailand.com focused on services for exporters, putting information
about regulations, logistics and trade shows online.
The second
phase launched this week involves tourism services, which will be followed
by free e-mail and live online presentation of Nation Channel 8 TV and
Nation Radio programmes.
