signs content deal with Bridge The Nation
June 1, 2000
BANGKOK
(The Nation) - Thailand.com, a portal site of the Nation Multimedia Group,
signed a Bt20-million partnership deal with Bridge yesterday as part of
its ambitious strategy to be an online financial-information gateway to
Southeast Asia.
As part
of the agreement, Bridge, the largest online financial and news information
service provider in North America, will supply Thailand.com customers with
domestic, regional and international business and financial information
around the clock.
This information
will span real-time reports from the major markets of the world and advanced
portfolio and company analysis, all available in English, Thai, Japanese,
Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia.
Thanachai
Theerapatvong, chairman and chief executive of Nation Multimedia Group,
said the tie-up would improve the strength of Thailand.com, which officially
made its debut this month.
"We
have hooked up with Bridge because it service coverage worldwide will help
us become the financial-news and information hub of Southeast Asia,"
Thanachai said.
He said
that, so far, the homepage, www.thailand.com, could secure revenue from
advertising space sales of Bt20 million.
Sermsin
Samalap, president of Thai Portal, an operator of Thailand.com, said that
with Bridge as a partner, the company would be able to present Thailand
- and thailand.com - as a regional hub for business and financial information.
Thailand.com
is aimed at those who are interested in business and leisure in Thailand
and Southeast Asia.
From tomorrow,
it will offer visitors comprehensive information about exporters in Thailand,
local and regional travel destinations, and a world-news service. The Bridge
business and finance sections will also include real-time stock quotes
and portfolio details from all the bourses in Southeast Asia and South
Pacific.
In addition,
it will offer up-to-the-minute currency exchange rates and a continual
stream of business and business-related news. "Thailand.com customers
can even keep personal portfolios on the site to monitor their stock trading,"
Thanachai said.
