BANGKOK
(The Nation) - The Export Promotion Department yesterday officially appointed
thailand.com as its e-commerce provider for Thai exporters.
Thailand.com,
owned and operated by Thai Portal, will provide e-commerce for the Department's
2,000 members. The web portal said it would be ready to immediately launch
the e-commerce services as an alternative export channel for exporters
nationwide.
Thanachai
Theerapatvong, chairman and chief executive of the Nation Group and Thai
Portal, said appointment as the official e-commerce service provider for
Thai exporters confirmed confidence in thailand.com as one of Southeast
Asia's prominent e-marketplaces.
He said
with its expertise, teamwork, and leading strategic partners, thailand.com
would help the department's members have a better understanding of e-commerce
as their future export channel.
President
and chief operating officer of Thai Portal Sermsin Samalapa said the appointment
meant thailand.com had been chosen to design and set up websites for more
than 2,000 Thai exporters. The Export Promotion Department would sponsor
Bt10,000 for each website.
Thailand.com
and other media divisions of the Nation Group will advertise Thai products
and information related to exports to potential customers worldwide.
