Outblaze
sees growth in association with Thailand.com itdaily.com
August 30, 2000
(itdaily.com)
- Outblaze has announced an association with Thailand.com, a subsidiary
of Nation Multimedia (publisher of The Nation), to provide information
and communication infrastructure services for the portal. According to
Outblaze, some 3540 per cent of the Thai Internet population are
already using its services and it anticipates the association with Thailand.com,
which provides information and services on Thailand and Southeast Asia,
will further boost this number. Jardine Fleming Research and Salomon Smith
Barney estimate the current Internet population in Thailand to be between
1 million and 1.1 million, and Outblaze claims that from the seven million
users of its services worldwide, some 400,000 are from Thailand.
With
a significant percentage of the Internet users in Thailand making use of
Outblaze services today, we are recognised as the leader in providing value-added
information and communication infrastructure services in the Thai market,
said Yat Siu, CEO and Founder of Outblaze. Our new association with
Thailand.com represents a great opportunity, as this portal is expected
to become a primary destination and we therefore expect a steep increase
in the number of Thai interest people using Outblaze services.
In a report
published in December 1999, Merrill Lynch said that most users in Thailand
go on line to peruse local content in Thai. With a focus on Asian markets
and experience in the localisation process, Outblaze provides fully localised
technology services to Thai companies and Web sites. According to a January
2000 SG Global Equities Emerging Markets Equity Research report, there
will be seven million Internet users in Thailand by 2005.
