thailand.com/Meet World Trade, an e-marketplace for Thai exporters, joins THAIFEX & THAIMEX 2001 at BITEC

thailand.com/Meet World Trade recently participated in the Thailand Food Exhibition and Thailand Muslim Food Exhibition 2001 (THAIFEX & THAIMEX 2001), held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC) during 30 May - 3 June, 2001. This important international fair was organized through the coordination of the Ministries of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Industry, and Public Health, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thai Airways International and the Association of Food Manufacturers and Exporters, in an effort to support and promote Thailand's food industry. Besides 383 Thai manufacturers and food processing companies, another 37 overseas manufacturers and organizations participated in the event, from India, Indochina, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

H.E. Dr. Adisai Bodharamik, Minister of Commerce, said in his opening address for THAIFEX & THAIMEX 2001 that "the Thai government has made its best efforts to promote Thailand as the 'kitchen of the world', producing a variety of food products to nourish global markets by implementing various strategies such as supporting research and development in the Thai food sector, solving problems and overcoming obstacles facing food exporters, and seeking out new markets with high potential. These strategies will increase the export value by 4.7 percent in the year 2001."

In accordance with the government's supportive policy, the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) has appointed thailand.com/Meet World Trade as an online e-commerce marketplace for Thai exporters in the Foods, Agricultural Products/Minerals/Fuels, Pet Food and Stationery Sectors. The DEP provides financial support for exporters to promote their products free with the thailand.com/Meet World Trade website.
