The
Central Plains of Thailand, incorporating Bangkok and the former
Empire of Ayutthaya, is perhaps most artistically representative
of Siam and Thailand. The Central region displays all the styles
of the other areas of the country in addition to its own inherent
art forms from the four-century-long Ayutthaya era and the present-day
Ratanakosin or Bangkok era.
Apart
from magnificent examples of architecture and sculpture, the
Central Plains forged many of the crafts still practiced in
modern-day Thailand, including gold work, wood-carving and ceramics
production.
