Isaan,
Thailand's arid northeast, is perhaps most noted for its fabulous
temple complexes and sculpture from the Khmer and Lopburi period.
These sanctuaries are truly magnificent in scale, and quite
unlike any other architecture to be found in Thailand.
Isaan's proud people have successfully kept their traditional
heritage alive and flourishing, with colorful costumes, fast
and often amusing song and dance, and craft industries such
as silk weaving, which continue to generate an important source
of income to the people.
