Welcome \ Travel \ Thai Cuisine

 



Khai Phalo
Ingredients:
For 2-4 servings
300 g. (10 1/2 oz.) pork, cut into bite-size pieces
5 eggs, boiled
1 tofu cake, cut into bite-size dices
2 coriander roots
1 tsp. garlic, finely chopped
1 tbs. five spices powder
1 tsp. whole black peppercorns
2 tbs. palm sugar
1 tsp. black soya sauce
2 tbs. fish sauce
4 cups water
 

Preparation:

1. In a mortar, pound together coriander roots, garlic, and black peppercorns.
2. In a pot, brown the pork with the mixture from step 1. Add eggs, tofu, five spices powder, and water.
3. Season with palm sugar , fish sauce and black soya sauce. There should be a sweet taste.
4. Simmer for 1 hour.

Note : Instant "Phalo Powder" is also available at various oriental grocery stores.
