White
Water Rafting at Kaeng Krachan National Park
The
Tanaosi range along the western border with Myanmar is the
source of the Phetchaburi River and its various tributaries.
The source of the river is generally thought to be just below
the Tor Thip Waterfall in Kaeng Krachan National Park. This
is also one of the best locations for whitewater rafting.
The swirling water, interrupted by islets and rapids, winds
its way between thickly forested banks, teeming with butterflies
and wildlife. The route downstream to the Kaeng Krachan Dam
takes about six hours.
To
go white water rafting, you need to get prior permission from
the Protection Section of the Royal Forest Department. The
starting point is about 47 km from the National Park office.
