Bird
watching at Angthong National Marine Park
Angthong
National Marine Park is composed of a group of 40 or so islands
with stunning vistas as of a forest full of rock formations.
There
are almost 40 species of birds in the marine park including
black baza, brahminy kite, Eurasian woodcock and the white-rumped
shama as examples. Swifts, whose nests are a famous delicacy,
live in the island caves and numerous seagulls are to be found
nesting on the islands.
Caves
in many of the islands have intriguing rock formations. The
beaches are surrounded with excellent coral reefs which make
for perfect swimming and snorkeling. Hundreds of beaches here
in the archipelago are deserted. Get a boat and find your
own secret beach away from the crowds.
There
is accommodation available on Wau Talab Island and tents can
be rented for camping within the park.
