Thai
Beer Festival
When
the rains finally cease and the cooler weather arrives in
October and on into November, the Thai breweries get together
to set up beer gardens and events around Bangkok.
The
biggest and most popular is in front of the World Trade Center
at the Rajprasong Intersection. All the larger breweries set
up sections promoting their beer. Various types of Thai food
and snacks are also showcased, often with whole barbecued
pigs and other roast meat dishes. On Friday and Saturday nights
you can spend a long time trying to find an empty table here,
so it pays to get there early. The prices of food and drinks
are usually not cheaper than the average restaurant but the
atmosphere and live entertainment is hard to beat.
Other
popular beer gardens are at SCB Park Plaza at Ratchayothin,
a little far out but a more upmarket location, the Discovery
Center on Siam Square, Seacon Square and the Seri Center on
Srinakarin Road, and at various smaller sites around the city.
