Trang

Rugged karst islands rise
from the serene waters off Trang province.
|
Trang
province is located some 828 km from Bangkok to the
south. Trang is an ancient fishing village and had once
been a seaport of Thailand's west coast on the shores
of the Indian Ocean. Only recently has Trang become
better recognized among travelers as great place for
divers to explore crystal clear waters and diverse marine
life. With the continued promotional campaigns from
provincial authorities, Thai Airways International and
the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the province has
increasingly gained attention from travelers from around
the world.

It
is presently an alternative destination for travelers
who want to venture beyond Phuket. The province is easily
accessible, from either the Had Yai or Phuket airport,
taking about 90 minutes and two hours respectively by
car or bus.
You
can also reach Trang by train from Bangkok's Hua Lam
Pong station. The Transport Company provides regular
and air-conditioned buses daily from the Southern Bus
terminal.
Ko
Kradan: Given a nickname as Valentine's Island,
Ko Kradan is one of the most beautiful islands in Trang.
It takes about 40 minutes by boat from the mainland.
Some areas of the island are a part of Chao Mai National
Park while others are private rubber and coconut plantations.
The island is noted for its beautiful powdery sand beach
and coral reef.
