Chao Le Boat Festival

On the eve of the full moon during the 6th and 11th lunar months, Krabi is home to one of the more unusual festivals in the region, the Chao Le Boat Festival. This festival is meant to bring prosperity and happiness to the Chao Le, a nomadic sea-faring people native to Krabi and is accompanied by a festive traditional song and dance, called the "rong ngeng". The highlights of this unique festival also includes the release of model boats carved by the Chao Le.
