Tenth Lunar Month Merit-making Festival
This
is a festival celebrated by most southern Thai people. The
festival is derived from the belief that during the first
to fifteenth day of the tenth waning moon, the souls of the
dead are released to meet their relatives. So relatives of
the deceased take this opportunity to make merit for them.
Satingphra district in Songkhla province has quite a unique
celebration of this event.
