Rambutan Fair

Held in the beginning of every August, the fair celebrates the delectable fruits. The first rambutan tree was planted in Surat Thani in 1926. Nowadays, rambutan has become so widely famous that it is sold all over Thailand and enjoyed for its juicy, soft and sweet taste. The Rambutan Fair happens at Si Surat Field along Tapi River Dam in the provincial town.

The fair is organized to provide an open market to promote "ngo rong rian" and local products which are on display and for sale. It's guaranteed that you can immerse yourself in the authentic and rustic atmosphere. The highlight of the activities at the fair ground includes agricultural exhibitions of local products and ornamental plants, floats decorated with rambutan and other fruits, and demonstrations of trained monkeys, the coconut collectors.
