By Plane

Since there is no direct flight from Bangkok to Mae Hong son Tourists may take the Bangkok-Chiang Mai flights that connect with the Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son flights. (The ticket from Bangkok>Chiang Mai>Mae Hong Son is about 2,025 baht for economy class) However reservations should be made in advance with Thai Airways Bangkok,

By plane, the trip from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son takes only 30 minutes. From Chiang Mai Airport, there are 5 daily flights available at 9.30am, 11.35am, 11.55am, 1.50pm and 4.05pm. An economy class ticket is about 375 baht. Tourists are advised to book tickets at least 2 days before departure. Contact Thai Airways

By Bus

From Bangkok, there is only the “Muang Nua Tour” +66 2 936 3587, which operates an air-conditioned bus running directly to Mae Hong Son. The trip usually takes about 17 hours, and departs from Bangkok’s Northern Bus Terminal at 6.00pm daily. There are two possible destinations for this tour. The first one is at Mae Sariang district with a fare of 418 baht and arrival at 7.00am (13 hrs). The second is at Muang Mae Hong Son with a fare 525 baht and arrival at 10.00am (16 hrs).

The return trips from Mae Hong Son depart at 12.00am and 3.00pm with a fare 525 baht, while the bus from Mae Sariang leaves at 3.00pm and 6.00pm with a fare 418 baht. It takes between 13 and 16 hours to get to Bangkok.

An alternative way to go to Mae Hong Son by bus is to go via Chiang Mai. Basically, there are so many bus companies both public and private ones available from Bangkok to Chiang Mai that tourists can choose the one that best suits them. From Chiang Mai, tourists can easily get to Muang Mae Hong Son and some other nearby destinations such as Khun Yuam, Mae Sariang and Pai. By Train

There is no direct trip from Bangkok to Mae Hong Son. If tourists would like to travel by train, they are advised to take the northern trip to Chiang Mai and then reach Mae Hong Son by bus.

By Car

Normally, tourists who travel by car are likely to go to Chiang Mai first. And from Chiang Mai, there are three different routes to Mae Hong Son.
