Getting Around

Mini-buses can be taken from the railway station into the city for around 30 baht. Songthaews and tuk-tuks ply the town’s streets for around 10 baht per person depending on the distance traveled. Mini-buses can be hired for around 250 to 300 baht per person for the entire day for touring around the city but you may have to bargain hard to get a good price.

To get from Ayutthaya to Bang Pa-in, take a mini-bus from Chao Prom Market on Chao Prom Road. Buses start from 6.30 am and the fare is about 30 baht. The trip to Bang Pa-in takes about 50 minutes.

The old city of Ayutthaya is not that big, so it’s possible to get around most of the historical sites on foot or by bicycle. Another interesting way to see the town and many of the ruins is by long-tailed boat. Boat hire is about 400 baht for a couple of hours’ touring.
