Airline Information
Angel Air is the only international operator and Thai Airways the main domestic operator. Bangkok Airways are considering adding a new service from Sukhothai in the future. Angel Air will also add to its Kunming China route, with a new twice-daily schedule planned to Luang Prabang in neighbouring Laos.

Thai Airways has two and sometimes three direct daily flights to and from Don Muang domestic airport in Bangkok. The first departure is usually near noon, the second in the mid-afternoon. If there is a third flight it's likely to depart from Bangkok in the morning. While departure times might change every six months or so, the changes are likely to be minimal while the frequency is basically maintained. The official flight time is quoted as 1:20hr, however, in practice it is normally much quicker. There are also two more daily connections from Bangkok, if one doesn't mind to go via Chiang Mai.

The price of a one-way economy ticket is 1,855 baht. Business passengers should also note that Business class seats are not always available on all flights.

Thai Airways has one to three direct flights daily from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. The first departure is in the morning, the second and third usually in the early afternoon. There are two to three direct flights daily from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai. Departures are in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Flight time is around 40 min.

Most flights generally fill quite quickly and it is recommended to book in advance especially during the high season, official Thai holidays and extended weekend breaks.
