At present, Thailand has a total of 28 commercial airports; 7 of which are international and 21 are domestic. Under the Airports Authority of Thailand, there are five airports including Bangkok (Don Muang), Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket and Chiang Rai. The rest are under the administration of the Department of Aviation, Ministry of Transport and Communications, except for Sukhothai and Samui airports, which are privately owned and operated by Bangkok Airways.
