Plane 

The great majority of visitors around the world arrive in Thailand by air on one of the many scheduled flights from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

The Airports Authority of Thailand (AAT), a state enterprise under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, operates five out of the seven international airports in Thailand.

Bangkok: The principal gateway to Thailand, Don Muang Airport, is situated at Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, on an area of 6.21 sq km. It can accommodate 60 flights/hour and 33.5 million passengers/year.
Chiang Mai: The major gateway to northern Thailand is located at Mahidol Road, Muang District, on an area of 2.6 sq km. Its capacity is 24 flights/hour and 3.7 million passengers/year.
 • Chiang Rai: A potential gateway to neighboring countries in the economic zone north of Thailand is located at Muang District, about 8 km from downtown Chiang Rai. With an area of 5 sq km, it can handle 20 flights/hour and 3 million passengers/year.
Hat Yai: The gateway to southern Thailand and used heavily by Thai Muslims on their annual pilgrimage. It is located at Village No.3, Sanambin Panij Road, Klong Hoi Kong District. It can handle about 30 flights/hour and 1.9 million passengers annually, on an area of 4.80 sq km.
Phuket: An island paradise popular with international tourists is located at Talang District, on an area of 2.31 sq km. It can handle 10 flights/hour and 3.1 million passengers/year.
