Ratburana Temple

Wat RatburanaKing Borom Ratchathirat II (Chao Sam Phraya), the seventh King of Ayutthaya, built Wat Ratburana at the site where Chao Ai and Chao Yi were killed in elephant-back combat. He constructed two pagodas at the site, and later added a chapel, making the site a full monastery.

During a restoration in 1958, a number of important artifacts were discovered, including bejeweled gold regalia, superbly crafted gold and jewel antiques, and golden Buddha images.

Ratburana Temple is located directly opposite Wat Phra Mahathat on Naresuan Road, in the northern half of old Ayutthaya.
