With
its rich and fascinating history, Chiang Mai province has
a large number of memorable historical sites to intrigue and
enthrall even the most demanding of visitors. There are numerous
Thai temples or 'wats' (over 300 in the provincial capital
alone) dating from as far back as the 13th century. There
are also many other interesting sites such as museums, palaces,
ancient cities, archaeological sites, statues and monuments
to be viewed.
Wat Phra Borommathat Doi Suthep
This
mountain top temple is considered to be one of the most revered
and famous Buddhist shrines in the region and attracts visitors
all year round.

This
14th century temple is famous for its fine examples of Lanna
art. It is also home to the revered Phra Phutthasihing Buddha

This
wat is famous for once housing the revered Emerald Buddha
