Ku Phra Chao Mengrai

Wat Ngam Muang is situated on the top of the small Ngam Muang hill above the site of Wat Phra Keo. The wat in itself is unremarkable except that it is the home of the Ku Phra Chao Mengrai. The Ku Phra Chao Mengrai is the name of the chedi that contains the remains and relics of King Mengrai, Chiang Rai's most illustrious and famous ruler. The edifice has recently been renovated and displays a statue of the king in front of his 'Ku'.
