Kanchanaburi War Cemetery

Kanchanaburi War CemeteryOf the two Allied war cemeteries, the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery is the largest, with the remains of 6,982 Allied prisoners of war who perished during the construction of the 'Death Railway' during World War II. Bronze plaques giving the name, regiment and short epitaph of each soldier mark the graves.

The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery is located in town, on Saeng Chuto Road not far from the railway station, on the other side of the road. Either walk the short distance or take a 5 baht songthaew.
