Chum Phae Ancient Town

This ancient town is one of the foremost Dvaravati archeological sites in Khon Kaen and discoveries of Bronze tools dating back 3000 years, have fueled debate among archaeologists and historians concerning the dates of the 'Bronze Age' in the region. Known locally as Non Muang, this ancient town was populated from prehistoric times until at least the 10th century AD. Boundary stone, three Dvaravati objects, potsherds, bronze and animal bone bracelets, shell and color rock bead have been unearthed in this area, in addition to prehistoric human skeletal remains.

Easily accessible, the ancient town is situated 85 km from Khon Kaen, along the Khon Kaen - Chum Phae Highway.
