Prasat Hin Phanom Wan

This collection of ruins, which dates back to the 11th century, is smaller and in more of a state of disrepair than those at Prasat Hin Phimai, however, is nonetheless well-worthy of a visit. The main shrine, which is surrounded by a dried up moat, contains several ancient Buddha images, as well as other artifacts that tend to suggest that Phanom Wan was originally a Hindu temple. Restoration of this site is ongoing.

Prasat Hin Phanom Wan can be reached from Nakorn Ratchasima by bus. Get on the No.1305 bus from Nakorn Ratchasima to Phimai- and get off at Ban Saen Muang. This should only cost about 5 baht. Once at Ban Saen Muang, take a songthaew to the park. Buses directly to Phanom Wan are also available three times a day from Phosaen Gate in Nakorn Ratchasima.
