Although
primarily known for white sand beaches and panoramic scenery,
Krabi is also home to a few noteworthy historical sites. Evidence
of ancient civilizations, dating back thousands of years,
has been unearthed by archaeological digs in several sites,
and most likely are only an inkling of what still remains
undiscovered.
Human remains, cave paintings, and religious artifacts are
only a few of the things found in the region, and are now
preserved for public viewing in museums.
Wat Khlong Thom Museum
Situated
along the Phetchakasem Highway, in Khlong Thom, this museum
contains artifacts up to 5000 years old. These artifacts were
unearthed in this area, and are evidence of an ancient civilization
in this area.

Tham Sua
This
cave temple, just three km from the town of Krabi, is a meditation
center, and also has historical and archaeological significance.
Artifacts have been found in digs in the area, and include
ancient tools, pottery, and molds for making imprints of the
Buddha's foot.
