Wat Phra Non

Located near Phra That Doi Kong Mu, this temple derives its name from the 12m long reclining Buddha image enshrined in the sanctuary. This temple houses the ashes of Mae Hong Son's former rulers, and similar to Phra That Doi Kong Mu, its structure and layout are clearly influenced by Burmese Shan culture. The Buddha statue and two giant stone lions at the base of the stairway are excellent examples of Burmese craftsmanship, as are many of the porcelain pieces and religious artifacts found in the small museum located on the compound.
