In addition to a number of natural attractions, Nong Khai is home to several rather significant historical sites, some rather new, and some which are thought to be over a 1000 years old. Some of these historical sites also hold a great deal of religious and political importance, and are deeply revered by the local populous.


Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge

Thai-Lao Friendship BridgeThis impressive bridge was completed in 1994, and funded by Australia. Over 1170 m long, it is the only road connection between the neighboring countries of Thailand and Laos.

Phra Chao Ong Tu

Phra chao Ong TuHome to the famous "crying" Buddha image, which supposedly shed tears after losing a hand to art thieves, this temple is close to Nong Khai, and a good place for a day trip.
