Sala Kaew Ku

This strange shrine, which blends both Hindu and Buddhist beliefs, is located on the outskirts and is by far the oddest place in Nong Khai, and perhaps the region. Established in 1978, this shrine is of the creation of Luang Puu, a mystic who has gained a relatively wide base of support in Laos and North-eastern Thailand. There are several grandiose sculptures, and a general aura about this temple that is completely different from any other in Thailand.

This temple can be reached from Nong Khai by songthaew or bus, and is located near the St. Paul Nong Khai School.
