Suwan Khuha Temple

Suwan Khuha TempleWat Suwan Khuha is called 'Wat Tham' by the locals. The interesting monastery is the most important historical site in Phangnga. Near the monastery one can find a mountain containing several caverns in both low and high locations. The most attractive caves are: Yai, Chaeng, Mued and Kaeo Caves.

Tham Yai, the largest of all, is located at the lowest level. One can pass through Tham Yai to enter other caves. The cave is 20 m wide and more than 44 m long. It has a flat floor, which is quite convenient to walk through. It has a ceiling shaped like a semi-circle and the entire cave is decorated with earthenware of various colors, sizes, and designs. As a vihara, Tham Yai houses various sizes of stucco Buddha images and, most importantly, a 15 m Reclining Buddha.

The temple is located in Tambon Krasom. One can take Highway No. 4 for seven kilometers to arrive at Amphoe Takua Thung. Then make a right turn and go another 1 km along the asphalt road to reach Suwan Khuha Temple.
