The
beaches and natural beauty of Thailand's western coastal provinces
attracted people in historic times, just as they do today.
Prachuab Khiri Khan and the town of Hua Hin are well known
as Thailand's oldest seaside resorts. Several of the Chakri
Kings built summer palaces in the province and the area has
long been a stamping ground for the Siamese aristocracy.
Hua
Hin's palaces and resort facilities, built for vacationing
Thais at the beginning of the 20th century, will fascinate
enthusiasts of history. A trip to the province is like a trip
to a bygone era, of steam trains and donkey rides on the beach.
Enjoy the sand, sun and ocean breezes, and if you have time,
visit some of the palaces to get a taste for what the good
old days must have been like.
Klai
Kangwon Palace
A
summer retreat for King Rama VII, the villa-style mansions
of Klai Kangwon were the peak of fashion in 1920s Siam.

Ko Temple

by Thailand's first astronomer-royal, King Rama IV himself,
