A
park honoring Thailand's most accomplished poet is located
in Rayong provincial town, where he made his home. Sunthorn
Phu's most famous romantic poem was inspired by the beauty
of Ko Samet island, just offshore from Ban Phe. There is also
a shrine to King Taksin, who rallied Thai troops in Rayong
before defeating the Burmese, and a shrine containing the
City Pillar. A number of interesting temples are also worth
