Wat Pa Pradu

Reclining BuddhaOne of the oldest sacred temples, Wat Pa Pradu, is the sole evidence of the prosperousness of the ancient town of Rayong since the Ayutthaya period. The temple is around 400 years old with many of its archaeological discoveries stating that it was constructed around the 1500s. Once it was a deserted temple, called "Pa Leh Lai". After restoration, the temple has a new name, "Pa Pradu", as there were several huge Pterocarpus within its sacred ground. Visitors can behold Ayutthaya style arts and architecture from the 1300s-1700s. The temple enshrines a large reclining Buddha, measuring 11.95 m long and 3.60 m high. Very distinctive and different from any other reclining Buddha images in Thailand, Wat Pa Pradu's Buddha reclines on its left side.
