Songkhla City Pillar

The shrine commemorates the founding of the city and represents an influential architectural style. It was constructed in the early 1800's and is considered to be the residence of the spirit or life-force of the province. At various times of year offerings are made to the shrine to placate the spirit and implore it to continue to protect the province and its people.
