Accommodation

Rates can be negotiable for long-term stays and during the tourist off-season. The less expensive ordinary room or 'hawng thamada' provides only a bed with a fan rather than an air-conditioner.

A wide range and variety of hotels and accommodations are available to provide you with a comfortable stay in Thailand. Near bus or train stations in most towns there are standard, old-fashioned Thai - Chinese hotels on main streets. On the outskirts of town you will find newer, more expensive hotels.

Generally there are two types of rooms at the traditional style hotels. A single room or 'hawng diaw' provides a large bed for two persons and a double room or 'hawng kuu' has two large beds. The price depends on the number of beds. On the other hand, the rate for western style hotels varies depending on the number of guests per room.
