Si Nakharin Dam and Reservoir

Kanchanaburi's Wild SceneryA few kilometers north of the Erawan Falls along Route 3199 is the 300-feet-high concrete Si Nakharin Dam and the huge Si Nakharin reservoir behind it. Located about 69 km north of Kanchanaburi town, the dam site hosts a small community of electricity authority personnel and associated facilities. Several lakeside resorts are available on the southeast shore of the reservoir providing accommodation for a few hundred baht per night.

Long-tailed boats can be hired in the village of Ban Tha Kradan or the town of Si Sawat to cruise around the reservoir or to take the two-hour trip to the beautiful Huai Khamin falls on the opposite (western) shore of the lake. It's best to hire a boat in a group, as the cost may be several thousand baht for the day. Buses from Kanchanaburi to Erawan and Si Nakharin Dam leave from 8.00 am and the trip takes about 2 hours.
