Ubolrat Dam

Ubolrat DamEasily accessible, Ubolrat Dam is located approximately 50 kilometers northwest from Khon Kaen, and can be reached by bus or hired car.
Officially opened on March 14, 1966, this massive dam has a capacity of 2,550 million cu m, and forms a picturesque lake. Slightly over 800 m in length and 32 m height, this dam is the largest multi-sided dam in the Northeast, and was created to generate electricity for eight neighboring provinces. Additionally, this dam serves as a water reservoir, a fishery, and also works to reduce damage from floods during the rainy season.

Recreational facilities have been constructed by locals on one of the banks of the reservoir, and offer swimming, water scooters, banana boats, rowboats, and food stalls. Boat trips are also available to some cottage accommodation located on the lake for about 600 baht.
