Lampi-Hat Thai Muang National park
Designated
a national park on April 14, 1986, the park covers an area
of 72 sq km. Places of interest in the vicinity of the national
park are:
Thai
Muang National Park:
Stretching some 13 km, Thai Muang is a clean sandy beach with
transparent water making a nice spot for swimming. The hillside
sandy beach is a secure place where sea turtles come to lay
their eggs during November and February every year. There
is commencing a tradition of observing turtles laying their
eggs on moonlit nights on the beach. The turtle releasing
festival called 'Turtle Waling Tradition' is celebrated after
the egg laying season ends.
Thai
Muang Beach lies in the district of Thai Muang Sanitary area.
You can get there on the asphalt road around 1.5 km and turn
right to access the beach road then another 5 kms will lead
you to the national park office. The long strip of white sands
runs parallel to the highway.
Thai
Muang was announced as a national park on April 14, 1986.
Its verdant and rich tropical forest occupies the area of
some 45,000 rai. Thai Muang memorializes the end of the mining
business in the district. It was formerly one of the great
reservoirs of tin in the world. The mining of tin has stopped,
but some traces of the production of ore are left.

Nam
Tok Lampi:
Nam Tok Lampi is a medium sized falls. It encompasses three
levels and each of the levels is about 100 meters high. The
fall flows all year round even during the dry season but it
is more dramatic to go there during the rainy season. It is
located in Thai Muang District. A pleasant drive along highway
no 4, Nam Tok Lampi is situated between km 32-39.
Nam
Tok Ton Phrai:
Nam Tok Ton Phrai is a large waterfall and can be reached
only on foot. The water in the fall flows all year round.
A trip to see this waterfall should be made during dry season
as the hike to the falls is most enjoyable. One can take Petchkasem
Rd. and turn left at km 28-29 for a further 7 km, then continue
on foot almost a km to reach the waterfall.
