Khao
Takiap/Khao Krailat
Khao
Takiap and Khao Krailat are two hills located just four km
to the south of Hua Hin. The two hills resemble the four-sided
blunt ends of chopsticks.
The
more famous of the two, Khao Takiap (or 'chopstick hill')
is located right on the seashore. A road leads up to a hilltop
temple, Wat Khao Takiap. Khao Takiap is covered with small
pagodas and shrines and offers a good view over Hua Hin and
the coastline from the top.
A
local minibus service runs along the shore between Hua Hin
and Khao Takiap. A variety of bungalow and resort accommodations,
ranging from economy through to luxury, are available at nearby
Khao Takiap Beach. The fishing village of Khao Takiap located
at the foot of the hill is a good spot to buy locally caught
seafood or to hire a boat taxi.
