
The Ramkhamhaeng National Park (Khao Luang)
For
the traveler seeking a combination of natural attractions
and historical sites, Ramkhamhaeng National Park is the perfect
place to spend an afternoon.
Dedicated
as a national park on 27 October 1980, Ramkhamhaeng National
Park covers an area of over 341 sq km of diverse terrain,
including vertical cliffs, some of which rise nearly 1,200
m above sea level. The park is also home to several gorgeous
waterfalls, caves and the variety of rare flora and fauna.
In addition, for those interested in exploring more of the
areas ruins, this park offers a number of archaeological objects
and ancient remains.
Ramkhamhaeng
National Park is located just 20 km from the town of Sukhothai
and is accessible via Highway 101. To get there take Highway
101 to km 414, and turn left. So straight for another 16 km
until you reach the park headquarters. Bungalows and tents
are available at the park headquarters and can be reserved
through the National Park Division, Forestry Department, Tel
