Welcome \ Travel \ Overview

People, Education & Language

In 1998 Nakhon Ratchasima's total population was 2,579,286. The most crowded area was in Muang Khorat with population of 483,191. Along with the Thais inhabiting Khorat, there is a sizeable population of ethnic Laotians owing to large-scale migration in the nineteenth century. Even though there were many Khmers living in this area in the past and the province absorbed many Khmer art and cultural influences, most of Khorat's people still speak Thai with a central dialect.
