Culture & Religion  

More than 98% of the population is Buddhist, and there are more than 1,000 'wats' or temples in the province, including several with sacred and highly revered Buddha images dating from the 16th century. Among these are the bronze Luang Pho Phra Sai enshrined at Wat Ho Klong and the largest principal Buddha image of the province, Luang Pho Phraehao Ongtue, at Wat Nam Mong. There are also a small number of Christians in the province, less than 2% of the population.
