Phangnga
province has an area of 4,170 square kilometers with a large
part of the province covered by forest. Phangnga’s major geographical
characteristic is forest and mountains bordering other provinces
as follows: Ranong and Surat Thani to the north, Surat Thani
and Krabi to the east, Phuket and the Andaman Sea to the south,
and the Andaman Sea to the west.
A land of
tin mines and beautiful scenery, Phangnga nestles among
soaring mountains that rise up around the town. It is located
788 kilometers from Bangkok and covers an area of 4,170 square
kilometers, most of which is mangrove and evergreen forest.
The area is bordered to the west by the Andaman Sea which
is speckled with spectacular islands.
The southwest
monsoon brings downpours to the Phangnga coast for much of
the year. Phangnga is nearly rain-free from January to April
and rainiest from June to November, but you can get
a little wet even when it is not the rainy season from
November to January, and in May and June. The average temperature
is between 21-30°C.
