The
majority of the population is involved in agriculture, especially
seasonal rice farming and fruit growing. The four main economic
crops are pineapples, coconuts, sugar palm and rice. Fishing
is another major income earner in the province.
The people
of Hua Hin district, a popular seaside resort, and to a lesser
extent Pran Buri, derive a large portion of their income from
tourism. Hotels, bars and restaurants are plentiful in the
town. Tourist souvenirs are made from shells and coconut shells.
Emblem of the province:
Khuha Sawan Pavilion, at the Phraya Nakorn Cave, in front
of Luk Island—the original site.
The Khuha
Sawan Pavilion was constructed during the reign King Chulalongkorn
(Rama V). It was often visited by the subsequent monarch,
King Rama VI.
