People, Education & Language  

In 1999, Sukhothai's total population was 633,081. The most crowded area was in Muang District with a density of 5,771 persons per sq km. According to the Ministry of Interior's development plan for Sukhothai province, the government has placed special emphasis on improving the standard of living of the local people.

The people of Sukhothai have an average quality of life with sufficient habitation and good education. About 99.8% of school age children are provided a compulsory education.

Despite being situated in the north, Sukhothai's dialect is basically similar to any of the other provinces in the central region. There are only Thais inhabiting in the province, other minorities are scarce.
