I am a new vegan and I LOVE thai food. I've researched the ingredients in my favorite dishes and Fish Sauce seems to be the only non-vegan ingredient. Has anyone simply ordered their favorite thai dish without fish sauce? Does it taste remarkably bad? Is the restaurant usually fairly accommodating?

Thank you!

I would say that some restaurants in abroad will be able to do that if you make a request not putting fish sauce but some already mixed the sauce so it's hard to do so. Because fish sauce is the main ingredient in Thai food. In the soup or some sauce like Satay sauce are mixed with Fish sauce. About the taste, it will be different but you have to accept the fact.

In Thailand, I'm not sure but you can try to ask. If you stay in the month of vegan "Chinese Vegan weeks" I think it's held around September. You can find many stands and restaurant severd vegad foods.

Good Luck!
